Based in Swinton, near Manchester, Roydon Polythene Ltd and Roydon Resource Recovery Ltd are part of the Roydon Group plc, a provider of complete waste management and recycling solutions.
Roydon Polythene Ltd is a market leader in the recycling and reprocessing of plastic lm from the industrial and commercial, industry sectors. Managing more than 10,000 tonnes of recycled materials each year, Roydon Polythene Ltd is an Environmental Agency approved recycler with an ISO 9002 certified plant.
Roydon Resource Recovery Ltd segregates waste materials such as plastics, paper and metal from the post-consumer sector and manages the recycling of them at Government or Environment Agency registered facilities.
Its Swinton operation is fully licensed by the Environment Agency, with a large dry storage area of 13,000 square metres that handles more than 50,000 tonnes of mixed dry recyclable waste each year.
The materials handling operations are intensive, with Forklifts working 24 hours a day. The plastic bottle sorting line handles 100 tonnes per shift, with Forklift Trucks transporting between 160 and 180 tonnes of plastic bales each day.
Building on an excellent existing relationship with the Global Materials Handling team, Roydon worked with Andy Evans, Managing Director of Global at the end of their previous contract to replace their standard diesel fleet with a fleet of new LPG machines.
The new fleet of reliable and robust Toyota Forklifts are perfectly equipped to deal with the strenuous handling requirements of the busy site. As the trucks handle a variety of loads, the machines are fitted with a mixture of heavy-duty Bolzoni Waste Bale Clamps and Bolzoni Fork Clamp Attachments.
When working outdoors, the Forklift Trucks are required to load standard trailers as well as containers. Therefore, each machine has been fitted with container spec triple stage masts and transmission protection to prevent wheel spinning when loading the containers.
Furthermore, all Forklifts have been equipped with heavy-duty cooling packs, radiator protection and steer ram protection boots to cope with the heavy-duty operations across the Roydon Group site.

- 5x Toyota 8FGF25s complete with Heavy Duty Bolzoni Fork Clamp Attachments

Our support doesn’t stop there! Combined with the switch to LPG powered Forklifts, we also offered advice on the best solution for the LPG bottles. This support led to an on-site installation of a static LPG tank and the supply of refillable bottles to reduce costs and maximise efficiency for the Roydon Group.
