A family business trading in timber since 1926, Rowlinson Packaging is a leading UK supplier of wooden cases and pallets. The company employs nearly 200 people and services some of the UK and Europe’s largest manufacturing exporters.
Rowlinson Garden Products is a leading manufacturer and distributor of garden products, supplying garden structures, outdoor storage solutions, garden furniture and accessories from its premises in Wardle, Nantwich.
With up to 600 products despatched each day from the Rowlinson Packaging site and up to 20 lorries loaded daily at Rowlinson Garden Products, both businesses rely on a material handling fleet working at optimum capacity and fast, responsive support.
When Rowlinson Group approached North West CESAB dealership Global Material Handling, their priorities were service, quality products and a strong working relationship. Rather than deal with a call centre, they were looking for a locally based team that would give face-to-face support on an on-going basis and help both sites to drive up productivity.
“It’s always a major decision when you’re signing up for a new deal for the supply of any equipment and you need to fully evaluate every offer. Global Material Handling worked extremely hard to ensure we had a tailor made offer that would suit our exact requirements at a competitive price, backed up with an extremely comprehensive service agreement.” – Charles Firth, Managing Director, Rowlinson Garden Products
Following a review of both sites, Global Material Handling recommended a mix of CESAB M300 forklifts, CESAB P200 powered pallet trucks and CESAB B215 trucks. The 33 truck fleet is supported by the St Helen’s based dealership’s team of service engineers.
Rowlinson Garden Products benefits from all three CESAB ranges. CESAB M300 4-wheel forklifts work across an 80,000ft² warehouse, yard and 40,000ft² manufacturing plant, transporting products for despatch to distribution hubs across the UK. On-site safety is improved thanks to better visibility on the CESAB M300 range, with two FFL cylinders that provide operators with superior forward vision through the mast.
Within the warehouse and manufacturing plants the 3 wheel CESAB B215 is used for moving product around. These compact 48 volt electric trucks are designed to manoeuvre easily in narrow aisles and around tight corners. CESAB P200 powered pallet trucks are used for loading and unloading from containers.
At Rowlinson Packaging, 17 CESAB M300 forklifts load and unload raw materials from trailers, move finished product around the site and load products onto 20 articulated vehicles for despatch each day.
Andy Evans, Managing Director, Global Material Handling: “Rowlinson recognised that Global and CESAB offered the best all-round package for their needs. We know our customers personally and they know they can talk to us whenever they need to. We don’t operate from automated call centres and are here on the ground, working to help customers drive their operations forwards.”
